Get a good look - because it may be one of the last sunspots you’ll see for a while. The sun is heading into an unusual and extended hibernation, scientists predict. Around 2020, sunspots may disappear for years, maybe decades.

The Environmental Working Group says apples top its “Dirty Dozen” list of fruits and vegetables with the highest amounts of pesticides. “We found that nearly every apple sampled, 98 per cent, had pesticide residues,” says Sonya Lunder, a senior analyst. “This is an accumulation of 48 different pesticides.”

A medium-sized solar flare has erupted from the sun in an impressive display captured by NASA cameras. NASA says the flare peaked Tuesday and created a large cloud that appeared to cover almost half the surface of the sun.
